Shelter to Home

Shelter to Home is a program I offer to families and their newly adopted rescue dog. This program is specifically for dogs adopted in the last 60 days from a municipal shelter or non profit rescue.

Why?

• One in five dogs adopted from a shelter or rescue will be returned

• Behavior concerns are the number one reason dogs are surrendered or returned to rescues

• Owners who return dogs after adopted are less likely to adopt again in the future

Research shows that the first 60 days are the critical window for intervention when bringing home a rescue dog. When owners receive behavioral guidance in the first 60 days, the adopted dog is significantly more likely to remain in their homes.
