About Canine Fitness

The practice of canine fitness utilizes exercises specific to canine movement to increase strength, balance, proprioception, flexibility, mental stimulation, and cardiovascular endurance. Through the use of targeted exercises and specialized equipment, we can help dogs reach their full physical potential. From canine athletes competing in high level sports to family pets who enjoy long walks and playtime, canine fitness can improve the health and wellness of all our canine companions.

Is fitness right for my dog?

Fitness can be incredibly beneficial for a wide variety of dogs. Have your noticed your senior dog losing stamina on walks or having a harder time getting in the car? Is your young adult dog clumsy and rambunctious seemingly lacking all body awareness? Do you have a competition dog that you are wanting to keep in tip top shape?

Canine fitness is about keeping our dogs active, healthy, and enjoying their favorite activities safely for as long as possible. Canine fitness can also be incredibly helpful for dogs medically recovered from an injury who need to rebuild muscle and strength before they can safely resume peak activity.

What dogs are not eligible for fitness training?

The following conditions are not elligible for fitness:

  • Dogs experiencing pain due to an injury or ongoing medical condition

  • Dogs who are currently injured

  • Dogs who are limping

  • Dogs who have had any surgical repairs in the last 6 months without a Veterinary release form

If your dog has diabetes, vision concerns, hearing concerns, heart condition, obesity, etc Veterinary clearance may be requested prior to any services. The health and safety of your pet is a top priority. If I have any doubts about your pets ability to safely participate in fitness training you will be referred to see your Veterinarian.
